We all know the usage of robes greatly varies on the type of denomination or church. Every kind of church will have a unique style of robe or color. But do you feel it is the main purpose of these robes?
First, it actually emphasizes the position of the pastor or minister and pretty much downplays his personality as a man when he stands behind the pulpit.
Another important purpose of the robe is that it stands for the Lord himself. When a minister dons a robe, the minister is taken to represent Christ leading the people or congregation towards the Father.
There are plenty of other reasons why most churches make use of the robes and as mentioned, individual churches have their own reasons why they require their ministers to wear one.
The robe pretty much takes a form of its own since it recedes the person and instead highlights the role and office of the Lord. Being able to stand out as such allows people to approach the right person.
One proof of how important an outward wardrobe is and how helpful it can be is the way doctors and nurses wear wardrobes to distinguish their position. People can easily know what they do and approach them for proper advice knowing that they can help.
